During the summer of 1917, the 32nd Division were holding the most northerly section of the Western Front, on the Belgian coast around Nieuport. James Westgarth, serving with the 16th Northumberland Fusiliers of 96 Brigade, was killed in action on 5th August, 1917, but as yet there is no further information concerning his death.
